The Makita RM350D is Makita's first robotic mower, designed to mow and recharge autonomously with minimal input once the boundary and guide wires are set. Powered by a single 18V LXT lithium-ion battery, it covers lawns up to 3,500m² thanks to a fast 40-minute charge time and 135 minutes of continuous runtime per cycle. Four brushless motors drive the blades and propel the machine across the working area, and when the battery runs low it returns to the charging station on its own, resuming work once charged.

The RM350D uses boundary wire navigation rather than satellite or app-based systems, which keeps the setup straightforward and avoids reliance on GPS signal strength. You set the perimeter wire and up to two guide wires, configure the schedule on the integrated control panel, and press go. Up to five mowing start positions can be programmed to control how frequently different zones get cut, useful for gardens with narrow passages or areas that need more attention. The mower travels in a random pattern within the defined area at 1.7km/h and handles slopes up to 26°.

Cutting width is 240mm with nine height positions from 20mm to 60mm in 5mm increments. An automatic cutting height adjustment feature lets the mower gradually bring an overgrown lawn down to the target height over several days, rather than scalping it in one pass. Clippings are mulched finely and left on the lawn as natural fertiliser. Noise output is just 59dB(A) sound power level, making it quiet enough for residential use without disturbing neighbours.

Built to withstand outdoor conditions, the RM350D carries an IPX5 water resistance rating. The top cover removes for easy cleaning with a hose, which is a practical touch for end-of-season maintenance. An anti-theft alarm provides security, and a PIN code prevents unauthorised use. Maintenance is software-supported via PC connection for diagnostics on motors, sensors and lights, making it straightforward to identify and resolve faults. Compatible with existing Makita 18V LXT batteries (not included). Supplied with blade set, 150m boundary wire, 50x cable fixing pegs, 5x cable joint clamps, terminal for wire junction, power cord for charging station, hex wrench, and station pegs.
