The Makita DKP180Z is a cordless 82mm planer running on the 18V LXT platform, designed to deliver the same planing quality as a mains tool without the cable. A precision-machined aluminium base ensures consistent contact with the workpiece, and a V-groove cut into the sole allows straightforward chamfer work on edges and corners.
Planing depth adjusts in 0.1mm increments up to a maximum of 2.0mm, giving fine control for fitting doors, trimming timber and cleaning up rough-sawn stock. Rebate capacity is 9.0mm for stepped cuts along edges. The two-blade cutter block runs at 14,000 rpm for a clean finish across the full 82mm cutting width, and a foot on the base plate lifts the blades clear of the workpiece when you set the tool down, protecting both the timber and the cutting edges.
A lock-on button enables continuous operation for longer passes without maintaining trigger pressure, reducing hand fatigue on repetitive work. The ergonomic soft-grip handle is shaped for comfortable use by both left and right-handed operators. A dust extraction port on the side connects to a vacuum for cleaner indoor work, with enhanced chip ejection to prevent clogging during heavy material removal.
At 3.4kg bare with dimensions of 335 x 195 x 210mm, the DKP180Z is heavier than some cordless planers but the weight helps maintain stable contact pressure through the cut. Supplied as a bare unit. Battery and charger sold separately. Compatible with all Makita 18V LXT batteries.
