Belgian Engineering Since 1966

Vic Swerts founded Soudal in 1966 when he bought a small company in Antwerp specialising in welding materials and polyester putties. By 1976, the company had moved to Turnhout and been renamed Soudal — from 'Soudeert Alles', meaning 'welds everything'. The launch of PU foam production in 1981 set the stage for Soudal to become the world's largest independent producer of polyurethane foam.

Today, Soudal remains 100% family-owned with 31 production sites, 84 sales offices and approximately 4,800 employees worldwide. With consolidated turnover exceeding EUR 1.5 billion, Soudal is Europe's leading independent manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and PU foams. What is the difference between Soudal Fix ALL and silicone sealant?

Fix ALL is based on Soudal's SMX Hybrid Polymer technology, which combines the best properties of silicone and polyurethane. Unlike standard silicone, Fix ALL can be painted over, has superior adhesion to a wider range of substrates, and offers both sealing and bonding in one product. Silicone sealants remain the better choice for sanitary applications where anti-mould protection is the priority.

What types of expanding foam does Soudal offer?

Soudal is the world's largest independent PU foam producer and offers a comprehensive range. The Genius Gun hand-held system provides single-handed precision application and is re-sealable for up to 6 weeks. Professional gun-grade foams are available for high-volume applications. Fire-rated B1 foams provide certified fire protection around service penetrations. Specialist options include low-expansion foams for window and door frames.

Can Soudal products be applied in cold weather?

Most Soudal sealants and adhesives can be applied at temperatures as low as 5°C, with some products in the Fix ALL range workable down to -10°C. PU expanding foams require a minimum can temperature of around 5°C for optimal expansion. In cold conditions, store cans at room temperature before use and check the product datasheet for specific temperature guidelines.

Which Fix ALL variant should I use?

The Fix ALL range includes several variants for different applications. Fix ALL High Tack (320kg/10cm²) is best for heavy-duty bonding where maximum strength is needed. Fix ALL Flexi is ideal as a multi-use sealant, adhesive and filler with high flexibility. Fix ALL Turbo provides rapid strength build-up and is fixed in 20 minutes. Fix ALL Crystal is the choice for applications where a clear, invisible bond is required.

What is the Soudal Genius Gun and how does it work?

The Genius Gun is Soudal's patented hand-held PU foam applicator. It features a trigger mechanism for precise, single-handed dosage control — no separate foam gun required. The key advantage is the re-sealable applicator, which allows the can to be reused for up to 6 weeks after first use. Available in standard gap filler and fire-rated B1 versions.
