The Paslode Story

Pioneers of Cordless Nailing Since 1935

Paslode was founded in 1935 in the USA by J.W. Leslie — the name itself an acronym for PAcking Shipping LOading DEvices. The company created the world's first pneumatic nailer in 1962, and in 1986 launched the first ever cordless gas-powered nailing gun, fundamentally changing how carpenters and builders work on site.

Now part of Illinois Tool Works (ITW), Paslode has spent over 40 years perfecting cordless gas nailing technology. The current range — including the iconic IM350+ for first fix and the IM65A for second fix — uses lithium batteries paired with gas fuel cells to deliver fast, consistent nailing without compressors, hoses or mains power. Purpose-built nails engineered to work with each specific tool complete the system.

Paslode FAQs

Common questions about Paslode gas nailers, nails and servicing

How does a Paslode gas nailer work?

Paslode nailers use a combination of a gas fuel cell and a lithium battery. The battery powers a fan and ignition system, while the gas fuel cell provides the combustion energy that drives each nail. A small internal combustion occurs with every trigger pull, firing the nail into the material. This eliminates the need for compressors, hoses or mains power entirely.

What is the difference between gas cartridge and battery-only nailers?

Paslode's gas + battery system delivers significantly more driving power than battery-only nailers, which is why Paslode remains the professional standard for framing and structural nailing. Battery-only nailers rely solely on the battery for impact energy, which limits their power output. Paslode's gas combustion technology delivers 82J of energy in the IM350+ — enough to drive 90mm nails into softwood consistently.

Which nails are compatible with my Paslode nailer?

Paslode nails are purpose-built for each specific nailer model. The IM350+ uses clipped-head or full round-head framing nails (50-90mm). The IM65A uses 16-gauge angled brads (32-63mm). The IM90i uses strip nails (50-90mm). Always use genuine Paslode nails — third-party nails may cause jams, misfires and can void your warranty.

How often should a Paslode nailer be serviced?

Paslode recommends a full service approximately every 50,000 shots. Between services, regular cleaning of the combustion chamber and nose area will maintain performance. Paslode operates a UK service centre with nationwide collection — the standard service and repair costs £149 +VAT and includes genuine parts with a 4-month warranty on fitted components.

What warranty do Paslode nailers come with?

Paslode nailers come with a 2-year manufacturer warranty, 90-day warranty on normal wearing parts, and 5-year warranty on nylon moulded components. Register your tool on the Paslode website to activate your warranty. As an official Paslode stockist, Invicta Tools can assist with all warranty enquiries and service bookings.
