The Makita DJR186Z is a full-size 18V LXT reciprocating saw built for demolition, renovation and rough cutting tasks. With a 32mm stroke length and capacity to cut through 255mm of timber or 130mm of mild steel pipe, it handles everything from first fix timber and stud walls to metal pipework and plasterboard removal.

Variable speed control via the trigger gives you 0 to 2,800 strokes per minute, letting you match the blade speed to the material. Slower speeds for controlled metal cutting, full speed for ripping through timber. The tool-free blade change system means you can swap blades on site without hunting for a hex key, which matters when you are switching between wood and metal blades several times a day.

The anti-slip rubberised grip runs the full length of the handle and provides secure control during overhead cutting and demolition work. A lock-off switch sits at thumb level, positioned for quick access without adjusting your hand position. The LED job light with pre-glow function illuminates the cutting area before the blade starts moving, so you can line up your cut in dark ceiling voids or under-floor spaces.

At 3.5kg bare, the DJR186Z is heavier than Makita's compact models but delivers significantly more cutting capacity. It runs on the full Makita 18V LXT battery range. For sustained demolition work, a 5.0Ah or 6.0Ah battery is recommended. Supplied as a bare unit. Battery and charger sold separately.
