The Makita DJR183Z is a compact 18V reciprocating saw designed for access work where a full-size recip saw would be too bulky. With a 13mm stroke length and cutting capacity of 50mm in wood and 50mm in mild steel pipe, it suits plumbing cut-outs, electrical chasing and trimming tasks in tight spaces like under sinks, inside partition walls and behind service risers.
Two switch levers give you variable speed control up to 3,000 strokes per minute. The trigger switch on the main handle operates normally for overhead and horizontal work, while the paddle switch on the tool body allows a second grip position for cutting at awkward angles. This dual-switch setup is particularly useful when you need to rotate the tool in confined spaces.
The tool-free blade clamp accepts standard reciprocating saw blades and allows quick changes without tools. The rubberised soft grip provides a secure hold and absorbs vibration during extended use. A single LED job light with pre-glow function lights up the work area before the blade engages, useful in the dark spaces where compact recip saws tend to be used most.
Weighing just 1.5kg bare, the DJR183Z is light enough to use one-handed when needed. It runs on any Makita 18V LXT battery. Supplied as a bare unit. Battery and charger sold separately.
