The Makita 9403 is a 1200W belt sander running a 100mm x 610mm belt, built for heavy stock removal on timber, flooring, decking and large flat surfaces. It's the successor to the 9401 and 9402, carrying over the same workhorse reputation but with improved dust collection, lower noise and reduced weight.

The 100mm wide belt covers more surface area per pass than standard 76mm sanders, which makes a real difference when you're working on floors, doors or wide boards. Belt speed sits at 500m/min with electronic speed control that maintains consistent pace under load, so it doesn't bog down when you lean into it.

Labyrinth construction around the motor and bearings seals out dust and debris, which is what gives these sanders their longevity. The dust bag rotates a full 360 degrees to stay out of your way regardless of sanding direction, and there's a dust nozzle for connecting to an extractor if you'd rather go that route.

The flat nose and side profile allow flush sanding right up to walls and into corners. Double insulated for safety, with a large front grip positioned for comfortable two-handed control. At 5.7kg it's manageable for extended use without being so light that it lacks substance.

Supplied with an 80 grit abrasive belt and dust bag.
