What is Soudal PRO45 PU Fast Glue used for?

Soudal PRO45 (108765) is a professional-grade polyurethane timber adhesive designed for bonding wood joints, laminating timber, and general woodworking. It achieves D4 water resistance rating to DIN EN 204, making it suitable for both interior and exterior timber joints exposed to weather or high moisture.

How fast does Soudal PRO45 cure?

Soudal PRO45 is an ultra-fast curing PU adhesive with approximately 5 minutes of open time. Initial bond strength develops rapidly, allowing you to move on to the next joint quickly. Full cure typically takes 4 to 6 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Higher moisture content in the timber speeds up the curing process.

Can I use Soudal PRO45 on damp wood?

Yes. Soudal PRO45 is moisture-curing, which means it actually bonds better on slightly damp timber. This is a significant advantage over PVA adhesives that require dry surfaces. If the wood is very dry, lightly misting one surface with water before applying the glue will improve the cure.

Does Soudal PRO45 foam and expand like PU foam?

Soudal PRO45 does have a foaming action during cure, which helps fill gaps and uneven surfaces in the joint. This expansion is controlled and much less than expanding foam, but you should still clamp joints firmly and expect some squeeze-out that can be trimmed or sanded once cured.

What is the difference between D3 and D4 wood adhesive?

D3 adhesives are water resistant and suitable for interior use with occasional short-term moisture exposure. D4 adhesives like Soudal PRO45 offer full waterproof performance and can be used in exterior applications with prolonged weather exposure. If your timber joint will be outdoors or in a wet environment like a bathroom, D4 is the correct specification.
