What does P3 mean on the DeWalt half mask respirator?

P3 is the highest European particulate filter class, filtering 99.95% of airborne particles. This covers fine dust from concrete cutting, wood sanding, plaster grinding and similar tasks. P3 is the standard choice for construction and woodworking environments with high dust levels.

What is the difference between the P3 and A2P3 DeWalt half masks?

The P3 version filters particles only (dust, fibres, fumes). The A2P3 version adds organic vapour protection for environments with solvents, paints and adhesives. If you only work with dust-generating tasks like cutting, drilling and sanding, the P3-only version is sufficient and lighter.

What size DeWalt half mask do I need?

This is the Large size. DeWalt half masks come in Medium and Large. The mask must form a complete seal around your nose and chin. If the seal is not airtight, unfiltered air bypasses the filters. Test the fit by covering the filters and inhaling - the mask should pull against your face.

How long do the P3 filters last?

Replace P3 particulate filters when you notice increased breathing resistance, which means the filter material is loaded with trapped particles. In very dusty environments like concrete cutting, this could be as little as one shift. In lighter dust, filters may last several days of use.

Can I wear a DeWalt half mask with safety glasses?

Yes, the half mask design is compatible with safety glasses and goggles. The mask sits below the eye line, so there is no interference with eyewear. For tasks generating flying debris alongside dust, you should always pair a half mask with appropriate eye protection.
