The ForgeFix ForgeFast FFCS8320 is an 8 x 320mm wafer head construction screw with a TORX T40 drive, supplied in a tub of 20. This is the longest screw in the ForgeFast construction range, designed for the most demanding structural timber connections where no other screw length will reach. Applications include fixing through triple-ply engineered beams, deep post-to-beam connections in timber frame construction, and through-bolting alternatives where a screwed joint is preferred over a bolted one.
At 320mm, the thread engagement in the receiving member is substantial, developing very strong pull-out resistance. The wafer head distributes clamping load across a wider bearing area than countersunk alternatives. The Elementech 2000 tan coating resists corrosion in treated timber and semi-exposed conditions.
The TORX T40 drive handles the very high driving torque without cam-out. A high-torque impact driver is essential for efficient installation at this length. The Type 17 auger tip and coarse thread cut into softwood without pre-drilling, though pre-drilling is strongly recommended for any hardwood, engineered timber, or near member ends.
