What is a through shank screwdriver?

Can I strike the Bahco Tekno+ through shank screwdriver with a hammer?

Yes, that is exactly what it is designed for. The metal striking cap at the top of the handle absorbs hammer blows and transmits force down through the shank to the tip. This is useful for breaking free corroded or over-tightened screws without damaging the handle.

What is the red colour coding on the Bahco Tekno+ handle?

Red indicates a Phillips tip in the Bahco Tekno+ colour coding system. Yellow is slotted, blue is Pozidriv, green is Torx, and purple is hexagon. The colour appears at both ends of the handle for quick identification.

Is the Bahco Tekno+ through shank screwdriver suitable for electrical work?

The standard Tekno+ through shank range is not VDE rated for live electrical work. Bahco makes a separate VDE-insulated series (033 range) for work on or near live equipment up to 1000V. This PH2 through shank model is for general construction and heavy-duty applications only.
