The Makita DRT50RTJX2 is a complete 18V brushless router kit with three interchangeable bases, two 5.0Ah batteries, a fast charger and a Makpac case. It provides a fully cordless routing setup straight out of the box for joiners, cabinet makers, kitchen fitters and site installers who need portability without sacrificing precision or finish quality.

The DRT50 router unit runs a brushless motor with variable speed from 10,000 to 30,000 rpm, controlled by a dial for matching spindle speed to bit diameter and material type. Electronic speed control maintains consistent rpm under load, and a soft start function limits initial torque for controlled entry into the workpiece. The aluminium housing provides rigidity and heat dissipation, while the compact form factor keeps the tool manageable for detailed work along edges, in hinge recesses and around templated shapes.

Three bases cover the range of common routing tasks. The plunge base provides rack-and-pinion fine depth adjustment for accurate mortising and housing cuts. The fixed trimmer base offers quick setup for edge profiling, chamfering and laminate trimming. The tilt base enables angled cuts for decorative edge work and bevelled profiles. Swapping between bases takes seconds and does not require tools, so you can move between tasks without returning to the van.

Both 1/4in and 3/8in collets are included, giving access to a wide range of router bits without needing separate collet sets. The plunge base delivers up to 40mm plunge depth, which covers the majority of hinge, lock and housing applications in solid timber and sheet materials.

The two BL1850B 5.0Ah batteries provide strong runtime for sustained routing work, and the DC18RC fast charger returns a flat battery to full in approximately 45 minutes. Everything packs into a single Makpac case for organised storage and transport.
