The Makita DTM51Z is a cordless oscillating multi-tool powered by Makita's 18V LXT platform. It handles cutting, sanding, scraping and polishing across a wide range of materials including plasterboard, timber, metal, ceramic tiles and pipework. Variable speed control from 6,000 to 20,000 oscillations per minute lets you match the tool to the material and the task.

The accessory mount offers 360 degrees of positioning in 30-degree increments, so you can set the blade angle to suit awkward cuts in tight spaces. The DTM51Z is compatible with all OIS (Oscillating Interface System) accessories, giving you access to a wide selection of blades, sanding pads and scrapers from multiple manufacturers. Swap the cutting blade for a sanding plate and the tool doubles as a detail sander for finishing work.

At 1.9kg bare and 324mm long, it is compact and light enough for extended overhead use. Flush cutting capability means it can trim door frames, skirting and copper pipe tight to surfaces without clearance issues. On second fix and renovation work, where access is restricted, this is the tool that gets into the gaps a circular saw or recip saw cannot reach.
